Simply put, the Law of Attraction is based on the understanding that 'like attracts like'. The thoughts we think, the beliefs we have, the emotions we feel, all influence the things we attract into our lives. By understanding the Law of Attraction, we can use it to our advantage and manifest whatever we desire. We can take control of our thoughts, feelings, actions, and beliefs and use them to shape our lives in whatever way we choose.
Thousands have credited the Law of Attraction to some of their greatest accomplishments and achievements including well-known names such as Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Oprah, Steve Jobs, Nikola Tesla, and Albert Einstein. These names and more have witnessed this universal law in action.
Whether you believe it's true or not doesn't change a thing. It's a simple universal principle that works regardless. However, the less you resist it, and the better you understand it, the more you can use it to influence what happens to you, for you. Your awareness of the Law of Attraction can change your life. If you're a real cynic (but I encourage you to not be cause trust me - it works!), at least consider this. The placebo effect is scientifically proven. That alone is proof enough of how powerful our minds are.
So how does the Law of Attraction work? Bob Proctor does a great job at explaining it in this short 7 minute video. Rather than trying to explain it better myself, I'm going to point you in the direction of his videos (plus there are many other great YouTube videos about it too).
How Do You Use It?
Now that you have more of an understanding of how it works, we can jump in to how you can use it. First, I highly recommend you also check out Bob Proctor's video on 'How to Change a Paradigm'. This video provides insight into how you can re-programme your subconscious mind, to embody the vibration of what you'd like to attract. Shifting paradigms plays a huge part in how successful you are at manifesting things. Now onto some methods you can try...
Scripting involves writing a letter in present tense, as if you've already received what you are trying to manifest. The key here is to feel as if you've already received it while you're writing the letter. Go into as much detail as possible, describe how it makes you feel, use emotive language.
When you've finished writing this letter, you want to read this letter every morning for the next month and feel it like it's true every time. But, when you've finished reading the letter, tuck it away somewhere safe and make sure you let go of any desire; don't think about it for the rest of the day. I'll explain the importance of letting go in more detail + trusting in divine timing in the last section of this post.
Make a List
This one is a really simple one. All you're doing is writing a list of the things you want to manifest. Before jumping into this list though, I like to start with a gratitude list to get into a high vibrational state and express what I'm already grateful for, so I can attract more things to be grateful for into my life. Take a moment to become present with a short meditation, and write a list of 10-20 things you are grateful for.
Now to bring in the things you want. A few key things to note here though is you want to only use positive affirmative language, you want to write in present tense, you must believe that what you're writing is possible, you must be clear in what you're writing (don't be ambigious, e.g. I want to be rich. What is rich to you?), and most importantly, finish with clarifying that you're asking for 'this, or something better'. I go into more detail about this in the last section of the post.
Some examples of how you can start your sentences are:
- I am so happy and grateful now that I...
- I am attracting...
- I am so thrilled to...
- I am enjoying...
Visualisation has been used by successful people to visualise their desired outcomes for many, many years. You will have heard elite athletes, sport stars, coaches, and motivational speakers talk about what a powerful tool it is. This practice of visualisation, of seeing yourself completing the goal, of seeing yourself achieving your dreams, will ultimately help to accelerate those results. Not only does visualisation activate the law of attraction, but it also helps programme your brain to readily recognise the resources you need to achieve the goal; and activates your subconscious into thinking in new and creative ways to help you reach them.
How you do it is quite simple. Take a moment to become present through a short meditation, find a comfortable seated position, and imagine with as much clarity as possible your achievement of this goal. What you did to lead up to it, your reaction to it, how you felt. The more details you can visualise, the better!
Affirmations can work really well when used correctly. The critical element is belief. If you feel that you are lying to yourself, of course the affirmations won't work. So if you use affirmations that are a blatant lie like, "I am a millionaire!" when you've only got $30 in your bank account, your thinking brain will probably jump in and be like, "Sure, sure..." and in turn just affirms how broke you are. So we want to stay away from those types of affirmations.
Aim only for affirmations that you can actually embody and feel (or at least work towards it). Here are some examples of affirmations that are more suitable:
- I am a money magnet. I attract money naturally and it flows easily to me.
- There is always an abundance of money available to me.
- I am the creator of my success.
- Everyday I attract people who help me with my goals.
- I am powerful and confident.
- My life is full of endless opportunities for success and happiness.
- I am receiving abundance now in expected and unexpected ways.
- I am confident and capable of creating the life that I desire.
There are so many different ways you can use the Law of Attraction to manifest things into your life. The key thing to remember is that you need to vibrate at the same frequency of whatever you'd like to attract.
What Else You Need to Know!
Take Inspired Action
You need to meet it half way. You can't just sit around waiting for a million dollars to show up in your bank account by doing nothing. No matter how much you're vibing with it, if there's not an easy path for it to get to you, it's going to make it a lot harder for the universe to deliver. Taking inspired action is an important part of the equation that some people overlook. When you take control of your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, and combine it with inspired action, you can attract anything you desire.
Let Go of Desire and Attachment
This one is a biggie! I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but once you understand it, it totally makes sense. Letting go means letting go of the desire for what you're manifesting, as by desiring it, you're vibrating at the frequency of lack / not having it. Say you want to manifest a relationship. If you're walking around all day thinking, "Where are they?" "I need this relationship to complete me!" You're vibrating at the frequency of someone who does not have that relationship, therefore, how do you expect to attract it? The person who has that relationship doesn't feel the desire to have it because they already have it.
You also want to let go of any attachment to the outcome. Don't limit the universe in how it can deliver to you. I cover this in more detail in my two points below about 'This or something better' and 'Trust in divine timing'.
This or Something Better
Don't always expect to get exactly what you've asked for. You should always ask for 'This or Something Better'. There are two key reasons for this.
1) So that you're not limiting the universe in what and how it delivers, therefore blocking it from potentially delivering something better. For example, I once tried to manifest winning a $100 book store gift card (this or something better of course). I was on a reading buzz and wanted to test if I could manifest something so specific. The draw day rolled around and... I didn't win. BUT, three days later on Wednesday morning, I opened my email to a vendor I had worked with almost ONE YEAR ago. They wanted to thank me for the work I had done for them the previous year, and let me know they had a Kobo Libra eReader in the mail on it's way to me. The universe delivered well beyond my expectation of a $100 gift card for books and gave me a waterproof eReader!
2) Sometimes, the universe simply has something better planned for you. Let's say you've just had a viewing of a house you love, you put in an offer, and you do the work to manifest the house. Much to your dismay, someone else gets the house. You're devastated. But you pick yourself up and trust that the universe must have something better planned for you. And low and behold, a month later, you come across the ultimate house of your dreams - and it's even within your budget!
Trust in Divine Timing
Trust that the universe will deliver in divine timing. If you haven't received what you've asked for, sometimes the time is just not right. Say for example, you're trying to manifest your dream job! But, maybe you're not ready for that job yet. Perhaps you need more experience or confidence to really excel at and enjoy that job, or maybe you haven't met the right people to lead you to that opportunity. The universe might throw a few other things before you to help prepare you for that dream job or to get you on the right path to it. Just trust that the universe will deliver in divine timing, and with what's best for you in mind.
Raise Your Vibrations
When you and your environment are vibrating at a higher frequency, you will attract more of what you want into your life. There are a number of ways you can raise your vibrations including becoming conscious of your thoughts, eating higher quality foods, drinking water, meditating, practising gratitude, exercising, spend time in nature, and simply embodying more high vibrational emotions.
You can raise the vibrations of your external environment too by cutting out toxic people from your life, having plants and/or crystals in your environment, and playing 432Hz music just to name a few.
Ditch the Limiting Beliefs
Think of the mind like a magnet that not only attracts, but also repels. If you have subconscious beliefs and/or doubts about whether you can actually attract something into your life, then you will repel it with these thoughts or beliefs. If letting go is hard for you, affirmations, journaling, and guided meditations are some tools you can use to help tackle those limiting beliefs.
